With Dayot Upamecano’s future at Bayern Munich uncertain, the German champions are looking at players who could potentially replace the Frenchman when his contract expires at the end of the season.

One of the options reportedly being considered is Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konaté, whose contract is also set to expire next summer.

Bild’s Bayern Insider podcast even claims that Bayern are in talks with the 26-year-old’s management - just like Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.

Interestingly, Real Madrid are also among the clubs linked with Upamecano, and Foot Mercato claimed earlier this week that a verbal agreement is already in place between the Frenchman and the Spanish club.

However, at a press conference on Friday, Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund said the club remains hopeful of agreeing a new deal with the defender.

“It’s no secret that our main goal is to extend Upa’s contract. There are probably a lot of clubs interested in him he’s one of the best centre-backs in the world. Our aim is for him to stay with us for a long time. He feels very, very much at home here. We’re in discussions, but there’s nothing new to report,” he said.

Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi has also been mentioned as a potential replacement for Upamecano.
