Werder Bremen and Alexander Schwolow are in direct talks with a decision is expected soon, according to Sky Germany.

The 33-year-old goalkeeper, currently a free agent, could replace Michael Zetterer who is set to join Eintracht Frankfurt.

Schwolow is a seasoned veteran of the Bundesliga, having cut his teeth at SC Freiburg, Schalke 04, Hertha BSC and 1.FC Union Berlin.

However, as Sport BILD reports, Arsenal's Karl Hein another option. The Estonian shot-stopper spent last campaign on loan at Valladolid.

At just 23-years-old, Hein might lack the experience the likes of Schwolow might bring. Furthermore, his price is unknown.

This doesn't impact Mio Backhaus, who still has a strong chance of becoming Bremen’s new number one.
