Oliver Burke began the season as a substitute, but has worked his way into the starting line-up for Werder Bremen, starting the last five games.

The 28-year-old's contract expires at the end of the season, but he is keen to stay.

"I love the club and I really enjoy being here. Hopefully I can stay longer," Burke told the Deichstube after Saturday's 2-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt, in which he scored the opener.

Werder are also interested in continuing their cooperation.

“We are trying to extend his contract because we have a good feeling about him. We hope we can make it work,” said Werder's head of first team football, Peter Niemeyer.

Burke joined Werder from Sheffield United on a free transfer in 2022.
