Garcia on decision to join Leverkusen: "The talks with Xabi convinced me."

Speaking "Tu Dirás" program on Catalan radio station "RAC1", new Bayer 04 Leverkusen signing Aleix Garcia explained why he opted to leave his La Liga side and work with compatriot Xabi Alonso in the Bundesrepublik.

For new Bayer 04 Leverkusen signing Aleix Garcia, moving from one 2024/25 Champions' League club to another this summer was by no means an easy decision. The 26-year-old had every opportunity to play UCL football with La Lisa's FC Girona next season, but still opted to transfer to the German league champions. The twice-capped Spanish international explained his reasoning whilst speaking on Catalan radio station "RAC1's" "Tu Dirás" on Monday.

"It was a very difficult decision," Garcia noted on the program, "It's going to be a very nice season for Girona and I wanted to be part of it. But I'm convinced of the decision I've made and I'm leaving with my head held high. It's a big step in my career."

"The project of Xabi Alonso was important to me," Garcia continued,  "The talks with him convinced me. They do things very well [at Leverkusen] I had a similar feeling at Girona." he move was ultimately a plus for everyone,"

"It's important for Girona to get this amount [a reported €18 million] for next season and the future," the player went on to say, "All parties involved are happy."
