The vacant position of sporting director at Bundesliga club Hamburger SV is attracting serious interest.

According to the Hamburger Morgenpost, Oliver Bierhoff would like to take on the job with the Hanseatic side keen to fill the void.

The 57-year-old was managing director of the German national team until the end of 2022 and has been without a club since then.

In his playing career, Bierhoff had a past with Hamburg. He played for the Red Shorts himself between 1988 and 1990.

Besides the Karlsruhe native, Ralf Rangnick, Jonas Boldt, Fabian Wohlgemuth, and Sebastian Kehl are among the candidates.

Stefan Kuntz suddenly departed the role of sporting director after allegations of serious misconduct were held against him.
