Back in the summer of 2023, TSG Hoffenheim paid a whopping 14 million to Augsburg to sign Mergim Berisha.

Now, a year and a half later, the 26-year-old looks set to return to the WWK-Arena.

According to Kicker, Augsburg have beaten Mainz, Werder Bremen and Union Berlin to Berisha's signature, with the deal set to be completed shortly.

Berisha's first season in Sinsheim was marred by a cruciate ligament rupture.

The 26-year-old has struggled to nail down a starting berth since his return, and to make matters worse, he fell out with now former Hoffenheim coach Pellegrino Matarazzo in October and was suspended for a period of time as a result.
