Lukas Kwasniok could return to the 2. Bundesliga as early as next season, according to reports from both Ka-news and Kicker.de.

It is suggested that Kwasniok is high on Karlsruhe SC's list of potential successors to take over from Christian Eichner.

There are even reports of talks taking place in Gran Canaria, where the coach is currently vacationing after being dismissed by 1.FC Köln.

It remains to be seen, however, whether KSC could afford the 44-year-old's services, who was also linked with a struggling VfL Wolfsburg side.

Should FC Köln be relegated, Kwasniok would be available on a free transfer; otherwise, his contract runs with Effzeh until 2028.

Ka-news also reports that in addition to a transfer fee, it's possible that Köln and Karlsruhe could share his salary next season.
