Lasse Günther will not be joining Werder Bremen, instead he will remain an SV Elversberg player, the club has confirmed.

The left-back, who had already reached an agreement with Bremen, has extended his contract with Elversberg by two more years.

As a result, the 23-year-old has a contract that entitles him to a stay at the newly promoted Saarland outfit until 2030.

The transfer to Bremen fell through due to the transfer fee demanded by Elversberg, who had asked for around €2.5million.

“Extending Lasse ’s contract is of fundamental importance to us. He has developed extremely well and has now landed on the radar of significantly bigger clubs.

"Accordingly, it was crucial for us as a club to create clarity and also secure the player’s commitment to continuing our collaboration.

"We achieved this very early on, so we can now look to the future together and tackle the tasks ahead ,” said SVE Sporting Director Christian Weber.
