Schalke coach David Wagner hopeful of Jonjoe Kenny return against Mainz
Jonjoe Kenny could make his return from injury next week, Schalke coach David Wagner has revealed.
Schalke 04 coach David Wagner hopes that Jonjoe Kenny will be able to make his return from injury against Mainz next week.
Kenny is currently recovering from an ankle problem, and Saturday's Bundesliga game against Paderborn comes too soon for him.
"We hope that he will be ready for the Mainz game. However, it may take a week longer. I can't say that with certainty yet," Wagner said at a press conference after ruling Kenny out of Saturday's game.
The Schalke coach also said that it's still unclear if Weston McKennie and Suat Serdar will be fit to play on Saturday.
"There are question marks about Weston McKennie and Suat Serdar. We'll be making a late decision on them," Wagner told reporters.
Schalke's long-term injury list contains Daniel Caligiuri, Salif Sané, Benjamin Stambouli and Markus Schubert.
