Leverkusen have reportedly joined the race for Mario Götze

Mario Götze is understood to have attracted interest from Bayer Leverkusen.
Bayer Leverkusen have joined the race for Mario Götze's signature, according to a report from Sport1.

'Die Werkself' are reportedly looking into the possibility of signing the 27-year-old, who is out of contract at Borussia Dortmund this summer as they want to prepare for the potential summer departures of Kai Havertz and Kevin Volland.

Götze was subject to interest from Hertha BSC in January, but Sport1 claims that the German capital club have shown no interest in the offensive midfielder following Jürgen Klinsmann's resignation as coach in February.

The German World Cup winner from 2014 has also been linked with Inter and AC Milan and prefers a move to Italy, according to Bild.
