Due to an ankle injury, Bayern had to manage without Joshua Kimmich for their opening game of 2026 – a crushing 8–1 victory over Wolfsburg on Sunday.

Bayern will now turn their attention to Wednesday’s game against 1. FC Köln, and as Kimmich revealed after the win over Wolfsburg, he does not expect to be available for that match either.

“I don’t think so,” the central midfielder said when asked by Bild whether he expects to feature against Köln.

The 30-year-old has returned to individual training but has yet to rejoin his teammates in full team training in the new year.

In his absence, Aleksandar Pavlović and Tom Bischof played together in central midfield against Wolfsburg.
