Report: Leverkusen retainer of transfer candidate Wendell means Kolasinac deal likely off

With no further reports surfacing on a possible transfer of Arsenal left-back Sead Kolasinac to Leverkusen since last week, any deal has likely been long off the table.

German footballing magazine Kicker reports that Bayer have unexpectedly retained the player currently slated to start in Bosnian's position, effectively affirming that Kolasinac will not be returning to the Bundesliga this time.
Leverkusen trainer Peter Bosz's search for a left-footed center-back will evidently end without the addition of a new player. The club's efforts to sign Sead Kolasinac away from Arsenal FC reached a dead-end at the end of last week and German footballing magazine Kicker reports that Bayer cut off all talks to potential sell Nascimento Borges, known as "Wendell" over the weekend.

An injury to Daley Sinkgraven on Saturday might have shifted the calculus for die Werkself. Germany's red company team had appeared intent on selling the 27-year-old left back before the transfer window closed. Kicker reports that it is now almost entirely certain that he will stay.

While it cannot be said with 100 percent certainty that a deal for Kolasinac is off, no independent reports on the possibility of a move exist thirty minutes after the official close of the deadline. Since no reports - potentially spurious or otherwise - have surfaced since last week, it seems reasonable to assume that the deal is dead.
