Hertha shortlist two potential signings ahead of summer transfer window

Lars Windhorst’s staggering investment to better Hertha Berlin’s fortunes have so far not paid out handsomely, but there is always hope as the capital club prepares to lure in transfers in the upcoming transfer window.
The German entrepreneur bought stakes in Hertha in 2019 amounting to 50% of the club’s shares and in 2020, he increased his capital investments to gain a 66.6% share in the club – a formidable investment totaling around $500 million.

The club is planning to shell out some of their resources to bring in two targets – as observed by Kicker.

Bayer Leverkusen’s 27-year-old right-back Mitchell Weiser has been identified as one of the two targets for the capital club. The versatile ex-Bayern Munich defender, who can also function as a wide midfielder, has been part of Leverkusen’s ranks since 2018, before which he played for Hertha for three seasons. The German will come relatively cheap – around €5m.

The other one being KAA Gent’s defensive midfielder Niklas Dorsch, who has also been actively scouted by Wolfsburg. Dorsch is a Bayern Munich youth product. The 23-year-old talent is worth around €7-10m, according to transfermarkt

A host of names will part ways from Hertha at the end of the season – mainly Matteo Guendouzi, whose loan expires at the end of the season and Sami Khedira, who has announced the end of his playing career, at 34.

Nemanja Radonjic’s performances have earned him some credit for a permanent transfer from Olympique de Marseille, from where he has been on loan this season.
