Leroy Sané has expressed his sympathy for Jamal Musiala after the 22-year-old suffered a long-term injury in Bayern Munich’s 0–2 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday.

Musiala was forced off shortly before half-time with what has since been confirmed as a fractured fibula and a dislocated ankle. The Germany international is now expected to be sidelined for at least four months.

Sané, who officially left Bayern to complete his move to Galatasaray after the round of 16 win over Flamengo, was left in shock when he saw the incident while watching the game against PSG on TV.

“The moment looked really bad even on the first replay, and you could sadly already sense that it would probably mean a long spell on the sidelines. It’s unbelievably bitter - at first, I was just stunned,” he told Sky Germany.

“I messaged him straight away on WhatsApp, and later we spoke on the phone too,” Sané revealed.

The fact that Musiala had only just returned from a long spell on the sidelines made the setback even harder to take.

“He was just getting back to being 100 percent fit, and then this happens… I feel so incredibly sorry for him. It’s so frustrating,” Sané added.

“I really hope he’s back soon. Bayern and the national team need him and his moments of brilliance.”
