Over the summer, Belgian goalkeeper Maarten Vandevoordt joined RB Leipzig from KRC Genk for a reported fee of €10 million.
So far, he's yet to make his competitive debut for his new club, with Peter Gulacsi remaining the Bundesliga side's first-choice goalkeeper - and that has come as a surprise to him.
"After my good preseason, I was a little surprised to hear that I would start the season on the bench. It's never happened to me before, but maybe it's not such a bad experience," Vandevoordt told Belgian newspaper Het Belang van Limburg.
“He is satisfied with my preparation, but he finds it difficult to take Gulácsi out of the team after his strong performances in the second half of last season.”
