Xabi Alonso and Granit Xhaka are not worried that Bayer Leverkusen's Bundesliga title win will affect their drive for the rest of the season.

On an emotional day, Bayer Leverkusen clinched their first ever Bundesliga title with a commanding 5-0 win over Werder Bremen on Sunday.

Although Leverkusen have now achieved one of their major goals for the season, head coach Xabi Alonso sees no reason to believe that their motivation will diminish.

"The team has not given me any reason to doubt their commitment," said Xabi Alonso at a press conference on Wednesday ahead of Leverkusen's Europa League quarter-final second leg against West Ham on Thursday.

“I feel the hunger and the desire of the players to continue. For sure we will be ready. I have every confidence that we will play here to go through.”

Midfield linchpin Granit Xhaka shared his coach's views.

“When you are in the quarter-finals, the hunger to win is always there. We have talked enough about Sunday, we became champions, but we know that tomorrow is an important game and so are the rest of our league games. Everyone is fit and hopefully we will have a great game,” Xhaka said.

Leverkusen take a 2-0 lead into Thursday night's away game against West Ham.
