Bayer Leverkusen may have found their replacement for Jeremie Frimpong, who left the club earlier this summer to join Liverpool.

According to Dutch outlet soccernews.nl, Leverkusen are in talks to sign 21-year-old Ernest Poku from AZ Alkmaar.

With just one year remaining on his contract, AZ are reportedly open to cashing in on the Hamburg-born winger, who has represented the Netherlands at U21 level.

Like Frimpong, Poku is known for his blistering pace down the right flank, but his profile is slightly different.

While Frimpong operated primarily as an attacking wing-back at Leverkusen, Poku is more of a traditional winger and has not previously been deployed in a defensive role.

Poku has made 78 appearances for AZ’s first team, contributing six goals and 13 assists across all competitions.
