As Bayern Munich gear up for a hotly-anticipated FIFA Club World Cup quarter-final with PSG, excitement is at it's peak.

In an interview with TZ München's Vincent Tschirpke, Herbert Hainer gave his thoughts on the upcoming fixture.

“Paris are definitely one of the best teams in Europe at the moment and played well so far in the Club World Cup,” the Bayern chairman said.

"We're facing the Champions League winners with the utmost respect - but we are FC Bayern and don't have to hide.

"As we've seen, our team is in good form – and when two top teams play against each other, it's always a spectacle for the fans.

“PSG have undergone an interesting development over the past two years. The team stands for great attacking football.

"And we, too, always aim to inspire our fans with forward-thinking football,” the 71-year-old added.

After discussing his enjoyment of the tournament thus far and the “potential” it has, he touched on its benefits for the Bavarians.

“This Club World Cup has the nice effect of allowing our team and coaching staff to work intensively together over a long period of time.

"For new signings like Jonathan Tah, this means easier integration. You get the feeling that the team is growing even closer together. That's crucial here,” he explained.
