Bild journalist addresses Bayern Munich’s stance on Liverpool star Florian Wirtz

Florian Wirtz’s struggles to live up to expectations at Liverpool have led to speculation that Bayern Munich could attempt to bring him back to Germany.

Such a move is highly unlikely to happen in January, however, according to Bild’s head of football, Christian Falk, who insists that the German international would be too expensive.

While Wirtz has yet to reach the level he showed at Bayer Leverkusen, Falk also can't see Liverpool looking to sell him midway through the season.

“At Liverpool, he may not yet be performing like he was with Bayer Leverkusen, but I think he’s improving. It takes time with a new team. I also haven’t heard anything from the Liverpool side indicating that they’d be prepared to sell him this winter,” Falk wrote on his website, cfbayerninsider.com.

The German journalist added that the prospect of Bayern attempting to sign Wirtz could also depend on the future of one of Bavarian club’s biggest stars, Michael Olise.

"We have to look at the situation of Michael Olise – is he signing a new contract next summer? If not and he has to be sold, then Wirtz would be one of the first options Bayern Munich would look into," Falk stated.

“However, there are no talks, no deals, and I remain convinced that Florian Wirtz will have a good season for Liverpool.”
