Borussia Dortmund sign Japanese youth international

Borussia Dortmund have confirmed the signing of Japanese U19 international Takato Yamamoto.

The 18-year-old central midfielder joins the Black and Yellows on an initial one-year loan deal from Japanese side Gamba Osaka and will initially link up with the club's U23 squad.

“Takato is a player who impressed us right from the start. He brings exactly the qualities we want to see in our style of play. We’re confident that he’ll take the next step in his development with us," said Borussia Dortmund academy director Paul Schaffran.

Yamamoto added:

“I still can hardly believe it. Borussia Dortmund – such a great club. It is the first time I have left Japan, everything here is new to me. But I am ready. I want to learn every day and get better. And I will give everything to repay this trust.”
