Done deal: Semih Şahin joins Kaiserslautern, Mehlem rumours dismissed

Die Roten Teufel have signed one of SV Elversberg's creative midfield cogs.

Semih Şahin is moving from SV Elversberg to 1.FC Kaiserslautern, with both clubs announcing the transfer was complete.

"With Semih, we're strengthening our team with a strong runner who also possesses a high level of game intelligence and creativity," said FCK sporting director Marcel Klos.

Sky Germany has reported a transfer fee of around €1.5million for 25-year-old central midfielder.

Last year, the club also received the same amount for Jannik Rochelt who made the switch to Hannover 96.

A transfer fee of this magnitude isn't common at Kaiserslautern, either, although Ragnar Ache was recently sold to 1.FC Köln for €4.5million.

The club from Betzenberg went on to invest €1million of that income in Union Berlin striker Ivan Prtajin in return.

Meanwhile, Marvin Mehlem will not be joining Kaiserslautern which puts to bed any rumours of a permanent return to the Bundesrepublik.

Following reports of an imminent move for the former Darmstadt player to Betzenberg, his agent denied the move to Transfermarkt.
