Eberl confirms Davies and Olise will stay at FC Bayern as he rules out more new signings

Max Eberl stressed FC Bayern will not enter the market to sign more players this summer. The Rekordmeister splashed a little over €100 million for the signings of Ismael Saibari and Nathaniel Brown, while Bara Sapoko Ndiaye will now join them permanently.

"I had a smile every time I read transfer rumours this summer. We closed the transfers of Nene Brown and Ismael Saibari very quickly. I thought it was clear that we were done with incomings. I had to smile about the names being linked to us. There's 0% truth to these rumours," said the sporting director in the press conference staged for Brown’s introduction.

"Nene (Brown) comes from Amberg, Bavaria. At the latest during the World Cup, we saw what he's capable of. He developed very well at Frankfurt and has a high level of game intelligence. The future belongs to him. When the opportunity arose, we had to seize it. He's incredibly versatile." Eberl explained the thinking behind signing the left-back for €50 million.

However, Eberl ruled out a summer departure for Alphonso Davies. The Canadian featured only once in his country’s fairytale run at the World Cup, as his fitness issues sparked rumors that FC Bayern were planning to replace him with the Germany international.

"I can rule out a move for Alphonso Davies,” said the 52-year-old. “Konrad Laimer and Josip Stanišić have filled in at left-back. With Luis Díaz, Arijon Ibrahimović, Nene (Brown) and Davies, we're well equipped on the left wing.”

Eberl also confirmed previous reports suggesting FC Bayern’s change of heart after their initial plan to sign a left winger. “We originally wanted to do something on the left side of the attack, but we've not done that. We've become more flexible with Ismael Saibari and Brown."

There were also questions regarding rumors of Real Madrid interest in Michael Olise. "We've stayed in touch with Michael throughout the World Cup,” Eberl pointed out before shutting down all doors for separation.

“We asked him if he wanted to wear number 11 as he does for the national team. But he wanted to keep number 17. The speculation kept circulating, but there's nothing to it. He'll be back as normal after his vacation. And we're simply happy to have such a player."

Meanwhile, Eberl once again included João Palhinha’s name in the list of outgoing transfers. Eberl and the Portuguese midfielder conducted contrasting interviews following FC Bayern’s defeat to Wehen Wiesbaden in their first pre-season fixture.

"We have three players we are open to letting go. They have no future at Bayern. If they want to stay with us, it will be tough because we are not planning with them and they won't play a role. That's the case with Sacha Boey, João Palhinha and Bryan Zaragoza." Eberl concluded.
