Eberl confirms Sané has turned down Bayern's contract offer

Bayern board member for sport Max Eberl has spoken out on Leroy Sané’s decision to reject the club’s latest contract extension offer.

Following Bayern Munich’s 4–0 win over Hoffenheim, board member for sport Max Eberl confirmed reports that Leroy Sané has rejected the club’s latest contract extension offer.

“He said today that he does not want to accept our current offer,” Eberl told Sky Germany after the match.

However, the rejection hasn’t led to a breakdown in the relationship between the parties.

“There’s no bad blood. The offer is on the table. We’ve made our position clear,” Eberl added.

“It feels - at least from my perspective - like Leroy wants to stay. Now we’ll see what happens in the next few days.”

According to Sky, Bayern’s current proposal includes a base salary of €10 million, up to €5.5 million in performance-related bonuses, a contract through 2028, and no signing fee.

Should the former Manchester City winger decide to leave, a return to the Premier League could be on the horizon.

Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham, and Newcastle have all been linked with the German international in recent weeks.
