Eintracht Frankfurt and Mario Götze appear to be moving towards a contract extension.

According to Bild, the Bundesliga club and the 33-year-old have held initial talks about a contract extension beyond the summer.

Both sides could envision continuing to work together, with further negotiations scheduled for January, as per the German tabloid.

Götze’s current contract with Eintracht expires at the end of the season, but includes a one-year extension option, which could be exercised.

Alternatively, a move to the American Major League Soccer has long been seen as a possible future path for the 2014 World Cup winner.
