Despite rumours of a summer exit, Equi Fernandez has stated he is loving him time with Bayer Leverkusen ahead of the new season.

“Was I a candidate for sale? I don't even think about that. In my head, I only have Bayer Leverkusen. I enjoy being with the team.

"I love living in Germany. I want to help the team as best as I can. A new season is beginning, and I want to prepare for it as best as possible.

“Last year was really complicated for me, because I wasn't here yet during the preparation,” he informed Sport BILD.

The Argentinean midfielder has pledged that he can offer the Rhineland club more and wants to bring supporters on his side.

“We know we owe something to the fans. Leverkusen is a big club and we are a strong team. I know we can do better – we will try to be better this year.

“Something is growing together here. The coach naturally has a big part in that – he brings passion, hunger and the will to win,” he added.
