Augsburg secured Bundesliga safety after a 1-1 draw at home with Eintracht Frankfurt. Shot-stopper Finn Dahmen addressed World Cup talks once again after he succeeded on the season's goal with the modest club.

“Of course, I’m hoping to go to the World Cup,” Dahmen said after the game against his childhood club extended Augsburg's Bundesliga status to 16 years. “But, in the end the national team coach makes the decision. I feel good, I’m in good form and they know what I can offer.”

Julian Nagelsmann picked the goalkeeper who celebrated his 28th birthday last month in each of the last four international breaks. However, the Wiesbaden native is yet to play for the national team.

“We’re happy to have secured survival. But, of course, we really wanted to win today. Before the winter break, we set ourselves certain goals and now we’ve achieved them.” added the former Mainz player regarding his club's achievement.
