Ahead of tomorrow's Conference League last-16 clash with Sigma Olomouc, Urs Fischer revealed Anthony Caci is back in team training after a lengthy absence.

"The guys have recovered well and are ready for tomorrow evening. Caci completed his first training session which is very pleasing news," he said, coming back from a hamstring injury.

While the second-leg comes too soon for the French defender, Fischer revealed that one player is deserving of a start against the Czech club.

"We didn't concede many chances in the first leg. We want to bring that to the pitch again, but of course there are points that we want to improve.

“William [Bøving] has earned the right to start. He works very hard in every training session and now it's time to reward a player for his great effort,” Fischer said.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Daniel Batz feels Mainz have the “necessary confidence” to advance after Sunday's win over Bremen and wants to deliver a performance to please the fans.
