Frimpong reportedly determined to leave Leverkusen

Sky Germany reports that Jeremie Frimpong has informed Bayer Leverkusen that he wants to leave the club.

Jeremie Frimpong wants to leave Bayer Leverkusen during the summer transfer window.

That's according to Sky Germany, who reports that the Dutchman has informed his club of his desire to take the next step in his career.

According to Bild, Frimpong's release clause, which is set at €40-45 million, expires this week.

After that, Leverkusen will be free to negotiate a fee for the 23-year-old. There are said to be concrete talks with unnamed potential buyers.

When asked in May whether he would continue to play for Leverkusen next season, Frimpong was coy.

"I'm so happy here. I'm concentrating on the here and now. I don't know what will happen in the future," he said.

Even if Frimpong does leave, Leverkusen have two players who are comfortable at the right wing-back position, namely Arthur and Nathan Tella.

Frimpong was a key player in Leverkusen's double-winning season, scoring 14 goals and providing 12 assists in 47 games in all competitions.

He last extended his contract with the club in October 2023, signing a deal until 2028.
