Newly-promoted Bundesliga side Hamburger SV have completed the signing of Nicolai Remberg from Holstein Kiel.

HSV reportedly activated a €2.4 million release clause in the midfielder’s contract with Kiel. The length of Remberg’s deal with Hamburg has not been disclosed.

"Nicolai has steadily improved in recent years thanks to his strong work ethic and willingness to learn, consistently working his way up," said HSV director of sport Stefan Kuntz.

"His physical presence and resilience under pressure will benefit our squad and our style of play."

Remberg is eager to get started at his new club.

"I want to contribute my strengths to the team, show my robustness, and win a lot of duels for the team," said the 24-year-old midfielder.

"It’s something special for me to play for HSV. In my talks with the club officials, it was made very clear what role I can play here and what path I can take personally and with the team — and I’m incredibly excited about that. I’m ready!"
