Borussia Dortmund's sporting director Sebastian Kehl was perplexed by the rumours suggesting Carney Chukwuemeka requires knee surgery

“I also read this news that you are reading. It's a story that's completely made up," he said, after Saturday's 2-0 win over Heidenheim, in which Chukwuemeka made a 25-minute substitute cameo.

“We were very surprised, we weren't informed about it and I don't think it's right for rumours to be spread about the health of our players that are completely unfounded.

“He was here [in Heidenheim] and no surgery is planned for the winter, just to make that clear,” the 45-year-old underlined while allaying fans' fears.

The 21-year-old, who signed permanently with BVB for €20million in August, supposedly needed an operation to fix a loose knee joint according to Ruhr Nachrichten's report.

After Kehl's statement, it seems this isn't the case for the attacking midfielder. He is expected to feature for Dortmund in Tuesday's Champions League opener with Juventus.

Meanwhile, Chelsea loanee Anselmino missed out in Heidenheim with fitness issues, but the hope is he will be given the green light to travel to Turin also.
