Ole Werner managed to not only return RB Leipzig to European football, but they also qualified for the Champions League after finishing third in Bundesliga standings. However, according to Sky, the former Werder Bremen coach couldn't convince all the club's decision makers.
While the sporting director Marcel Schäfer and his group would like to extend Werner's contract beyond 2027, Red Bull Soccer's global team led by Jürgen Klopp are dissatisfied with the performance. In the power struggle, Klopp's team are believed to demand an immediate separation with the 38-year-old coach.
Excluding the players representing their nations in the World Cup, RB Leipzig are currently in South Africa as they will play against African champions Mamelodi Sundowns in a friendly game tomorrow. Had they beaten Freiburg on the final matchday, Werner's side would have set a new club record for most points and wins in a Bundesliga campaign.
