Kobel rues missed chances after final defeat to Real Madrid

Gregor Kobel lamented Borussia Dortmund's lack of ruthlessness in front of goal after the Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid.

Borussia Dortmund created plenty of chances in Saturday night's Champions League final against Real Madrid, but failed to convert them and ultimately fell to a 0-2 defeat.

After the match, Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel was understandably disappointed, and the fact that the Black and Yellow created so many opportunities made the loss all the more bitter.

“At the moment, we’re just disappointed – it’s normal after such a game, if you’ve had such a chance,” Kobel told ZDF in a post-match interview.

“Against Real Madrid, you’re probably not getting that many chances and you know they’re always dangerous. We had our chances and we need to make more of them."

Despite the defeat, Kobel believes that Dortmund can be proud of what they've achieved in the Champions League this season.

“It’s 100% a huge success that we were here and played this game. I’m super proud of this team and we’ve shown that we can play at the top level internationally,” said the goalkeeper.
