18-year-old Luka Vušković has established himself as a key figure in Hamburger SV’s defence since joining the Bundesliga club on loan from Tottenham last summer.

In an interview with Croatian outlet Sportske Novosti, the young centre-back’s father, Danijel Vušković, opened up about his son’s future, saying that a longer stay in northern Germany is not out of the question.

“A lot is written about Luka. More than anything, he wants to stay at Hamburger SV to play alongside Mario,” Danijel Vušković said, referring to Luka’s older brother, who is under contract with HSV but isn't able to play until November 2026 due to a doping suspension.

“But that’s not up to him he is under contract with Tottenham, and everything will be done in agreement with them. So far, everything has been completely fair; Spurs have respected Luka’s opinion,” he continued.

“Until June, he is definitely at HSV, and after that we will sit down with Tottenham and see what’s best. I am extremely satisfied with how he lives and trains. I would not like him to skip steps and go straight to the English Premier League, which I believe is the strongest in the world. There is still plenty of room for growth. As far as I’m concerned, it wouldn’t be bad if he stayed in Germany.”

Danijel Vušković also confirmed that big clubs are showing interest in his son, but the full focus remains on his current responsibilities at HSV.

“They call, many call, but I don’t pay attention because everything will come in time; he just needs to continue like this. There are people handling that part, and they inform us from time to time,” he said.

“It is not known to me whether Tottenham sees him solely as their future player or would be open to a transfer if a suitable offer comes. Luka’s current goal is to achieve results with HSV and to go to the World Cup with Croatia,” Danijel Vušković concluded.
