VfL Wolfsburg have dismissed head coach Paul Simonis, according to reports from Sky Germany and Bild.

Simonis was reportedly informed of the club’s decision on Sunday.

The 2–1 defeat to Werder Bremen appears to have been the final straw after weeks of speculation about the Dutchman's future.

Wolfsburg have now lost seven of their last eight matches in all competitions.

Simons was appointed head coach of Die Wölfe last summer.
