Hainer believes Pavlovic is on course for first Germany call-up

Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer has spoken glowingly of Aleksandar Pavlovic and believes the young midfielder deserves a chance to play for Germany if he continues his current form.
Aleksandar Pavlovic is enjoying a breakthrough season at Bayern, having started and scored in the last two games.

Bayern president Herbert Hainer is delighted with the 19-year-old's development and believes he'll be in a good position to earn his first call-up to the German national team if he continues in this vein.

"I am happy that Aleks Pavlovic has developed so well," Hainer told Sky Germany after Saturday's 3-1 win over Gladbach.

"He is getting his chance with us and he is making the most of it. He's playing excellently, he's calm on the ball and has a very good vision, which is great - and shows that we're able to develop players from our own academy.

"If he continues like this, he will certainly get his chance [in the national team]. But we'll have to see if that happens before the European Championship."

Asked if he had ever been contacted by Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann himself, Pavlovic responded with a broad grin:

"I'm not going to say anything about that."
