Brückner jubilant after scoring late winner: "I could cry right now."
FC Saarbrücken striker Kai Brückner - after scoring a dramatic late winner in last night's upset Pokal victory - found it impossible to complete his post-match interview last night.
Before joining his family and teammates in the in-stadium reverie, the Villingen-Schwenningen-native did find some time to comment on his team's upcoming semi-final tie with regional neighbors 1. FC Kaiserslautern.
The hero of last night's sensational DFB-Pokal upset found it difficult to keep his emotions in check whilst conducting his post-match interview with Sky Germany. Twenty-nine-year-old journeyman striker Kai Brückner - whose career has taken him from the academies of Villingen and Freiburg over to England's third tier and three separate German third division sides - unquestionably scored the most important goal of his career.

Brückner's third career Pokal goal enabled his current 3. Liga side 1. FC Saarbrücken to advance to the semi-final of Germany's domestic cup after knocking out top division side Borussia Mönchengladbach. Brückner netted the 2-1 at 90+3 after a long night full of hard work on the waterlogged Ludwigstadion pitch. An ecstatic Brückner credited his teammates and fans for helping him along on his special night.
"Everyone here on the pitch, on the bench, and in the stands deserves a trophy today," the goal-scorer commented, "We gave it all. Gladbach wanted to run us out and pull the plug on us. I'm simply proud of every single one of them."
After spotting some of his family members descending the stands to join the rest of the team in the post-match-reverie, Brückner politely requested to be excused from his interview duties. His Sky interviewer managed to get one last answer out of him before he walked away. Asked what it felt like to square off against neighbors 1. FC Kaiserslautern in the semis, Brückner called it a "An awesome game for footballing romantics."
"I could cry right now," the former Bradford City, Magdeburg, and SG Sonnenhof Großaspach professional commented, "Please just let me go. I'd like to go celebrate with the boys. I don't what else will happen today, besides the fact that I'm going to throw one [a drink] back today."
