Gladbach's French connection fashion victory over Wolfsburg

Bundesliga Matchday 28 concluded with the visit of Borussia Mönchengladbach to VfL Wolfsburg this afternoon, where Gerardo Seoane's side came from behind to win 3-1.
Die Wölfe found themselves on the front foot inside 7 minutes of action as Ridle Baku rattled the Gladbach net. Tiago Tomas picked up the half space, sliding the German winger in centrally who picked out the lower right corner left unguarded by Jonas Omlin. Playing on the advanced right flank this afternoon, Baku could've bagged a second minutes later but for Marvin Freidrich's vital block.

Franck Honorat sought to breathe life into Gladbach's attack when he found Maxi Wöber with a searching cross. The Austrian centre-half's radar was off target by foot. Other than some late ingenuity from Luca Netz who released Ngoumou in behind with a throw-in that the Frenchman spurned, Die Fohlen chances were limited at best.

Gerardo Seoane's outfit received a great deal of good fortune to pull level in the second half. Ko Itakura's speculative long-range drive thundered off Moritz Jenz's knee, looping up and under the crossbar of a hapless Pavao Pervan. The scoreboard swiftly favoured the visitors at 2-1 in the 59th minute. Gladbach's stylish French connection of Honorat and Ngoumou combined, as the latter guided to the net with an instep finish.

Chances fell the way of both teams as the game entered it's twilight. Robin Hack rose highest in the box only for the crossbar to come to Wolfsburg's rescue. At the other end, Joakim Mæhle attempted the spectacular with an acrobatic bicycle kick that faded left and wide. Ralph Hasenhüttl's outfit lay consigned to defeat when Gladbach substitutes Čvančara fed Reitz whose cultured finish beat Pervan at the near post to cement a 3-1 victory.
