The German players you should pick for your fantasy team

With the World Cup just around the corner, we highlight the German players you should consider for your fantasy football team.
These days, fantasy football managers all over the world are fiddling with their World Cup teams in preparation for the tournament in Russia that starts on Thursday.

Here, we will guide you to the German players that may be worth getting for your team. We use the player prices from the McDonald’s FIFA World Cup Fantasy game, but hopefully our advice will still be useful if you're going to participate in another game.

Looking at Germany's predicted line-up for the game against Mexico on Sunday, Manuel Neuer (€6.0) looks set to start in goal after it has been made clear that the Bayern keeper will be Germany's number one in Russia. Neuer is fairly expensive, but with Germany expected to go far and with a good defense in front of him, he could be worth the investment.

In front of Neuer, the expected German defense line will consist of Joshua Kimmich (€6.5), Jerome Boateng (€6.0), Mats Hummels (€6.0) and Jonas Hector (€6.5). Kimmich is very expensive, but he is the main German defender to consider. The right-back scored six goals and made 17 assists in 47 appearances for Bayern last season. He has also shown his ability to create and score goals in the national team with three goals and 12 assists to his name in 29 matches.

In the midfield, Toni Kroos (€9.0) is expected to play alongside Sami Khedira (€7.0) with Thomas Müller (€9.5), Mesut Özil (€9.0) and Marco Reus (€8.0) in front of them. The main man to consider here is Thomas Müller. The Bayern star had had his best season for years, and he is listed as a midfielder in the game. Müller has scored 10 goals over the last two World Cup tournaments, and it seems likely the experienced Bayern man will add to that number in Russia. Özil is also a player to consider, but he is a doubt for the opener due to injury problems. Reus, who can potentially replace Özil in the first game, only costs €8.0, but he is listed as a forward and faces a battle with Julian Draxler (€8.5) on the left wing if Özil is ready to play in the central offensive midfield position.

Timo Werner (€9.5) is expected to lead the line against Mexico, and the RB Leipzig striker could be a very profitable investment if he gets a good start in Russia. However, Werner is quite a gamble as the German coaching team has recently said that it isn't clear if Werner or Mario Gomez (€8.5) will be Germany's main striker in Russia. Read more about the German striker battle HERE.

To sum up, if we are to pick a player in each position, Manuel Neuer (€6.0) is the goalkeeper to go for, Joshua Kimmich (€6.5) is your best bet in defense, Thomas Müller (€9.5) is the best option in midfield while Timo Werner (€9.5) could be worth a gamble up top.
