Mainz secured another season in the Bundesliga as they beat Werder Bremen 3-1 in a relegation six-pointer on Saturday.

FC Köln and Augsburg, who drew 1-1 with Eintracht Frankfurt and Fortuna Düsseldorf respectively, are also safe.

Werder Bremen, the team with the most seasons in the Bundesliga, remain in serious danger of going down.

With just one game left to play this season, the Green-Whites sit 17th, two points behind Fortuna Düsseldorf in the relegation play-off spot.

After being relegated in mid-week, Paderborn suffered a 1-3 loss at home to Borussia Mönchengladbach, who took three important points in their bid to qualify for next season's Champions League.

'Die Fohlen' sit fourth in the table, two points clear of Bayer Leverkusen, who slipped to a 2-0 defeat away at Hertha.

RB Leipzig remain third despite losing 0-2 to second-placed Borussia Dortmund at Red Bull Arena.

Elsewhere, Wolfsburg and Hoffenheim secured European football with wins over Schalke 04 and Union Berlin respectively.
