Homegrown talent Vitalie Becker has signed a new contract with FC Schalke 04, extending his stay with the club until 2030.

His previous contract was set to expire in 2027, thus preventing the worst-case scenario of him leaving on a free transfer next summer.

The new contract for the 21-year-old reportedly includes a tiered release clause, with a maximum transfer fee of €15million.

“It was very important for us to work with Vitalie Becker to set the course for his future as his contract was expiring.

"He is a lad from the Knappenschmiede academy who made a huge leap forward last season in the promotion-winning team.

"Vita impressed us with his footballing qualities as well as his hard work, courage, and passion. His development is absolutely remarkable, and in our opinion, it is not yet complete.

“That's why he has our trust and is a key component of our strategic squad planning,” said S04 director of football Youri Mulder.
