Report: Out-of-favor Goretzka makes decision on Bayern future

Leon Goretzka appears to have made a decision about his future with Bayern Munich following reports that his chances of starting for the club are looking bleak.

According to recent reports, Leon Goretzka has slipped down the pecking order at Bayern Munich, with the Bavarians not planning on giving the midfielder a significant role this coming season.

Nevertheless, Leon Goretzka doesn't want to leave the club, according to Munich tabloid AZ.

Instead, the 29-year-old midfielder wants to stay and fight for his place and fulfill his contract, which runs until 2026.

Despite not playing a minute in Bayern's pre-season friendly against Tottenham last week, Goretzka believes he has a chance of playing regularly, especially once the Champions League kicks off and Bayern have to juggle multiple competitions.

Goretzka missed Bayern's 3-0 friendly win over WSG Tirol on Tuesday due to a minor injury, Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund confirmed afterwards.

On Goretzka's future, Freund said:

“We'll see. He is a top professional, he will fight for his place.”
