Kimmich reveals what Klopp has changed after Germany share spoils with Netherlands

Germany captain Joshua Kimmich has reflected on what he described as a “deserved” 1-1 draw with the Netherlands.

“It was an intense football match in which not everything was perfect, but a lot of things felt quite good,” Kimmich told RTL (via Focus.de).

“We had a huge chance to make it 2-0. In the second half, you already had the feeling that the Dutch were getting stronger. We had one or two counter-attacks that we didn’t play out as cleanly as we could have. All in all, a deserved draw.”

The Bayern Munich star also opened up on the changes Jürgen Klopp has begun to implement since taking over from Julian Nagelsmann as Germany head coach in the summer.

“Over the last three days, the focus has been very much on the defensive side of things, on pressing and how we want to put the opposition under pressure,” Kimmich said, adding:

“It was about finding a certain structure. That is the foundation for our game and for how we want to improve with the ball.”
