LIVEBLOG: Netherlands vs. Germany - 2026/27 UEFA Nations League

Good evening everyone, and welcome to Bulinews coverage of the German national team at the 2026/27 UEFA Nations League. Tonight, a new era begins as Jürgen Klopp officially starts his tenure as the Bundestrainer - the DFB-Team faces the Netherlands in the opening match at Johan Cruijff ArenA in Amsterdam. We will have live updates here over the next 3 hours, starting with the confirmed lineups to get you set for the 90 minutes to come.

The two sides are about to walk out of the tunnel, in front of 56 000 awaiting supporters. This will be followed by the national anthems, "Deutschlandlied" and "Het Wilhemus" - after that, the coin toss and kickoff.

1': NETHERLANDS 0-0 GERMANY

And away we go! Karim Adeyemi with the opening kick of the evening as Germany, in their black uniforms (the last in the Adidas era), will kick right to left; the Netherlands, in orange, will go left to right when on the attack.

3': NETHERLANDS 0-0 GERMANY

Karim Adeyemi makes his way into the right side of the Dutch penalty area and receives a pass from Nathaniel Brown, who stripped Jan-Paul van Hecke of the ball on the left side of the Oranje third. He is unable to generate a decent chance from it, sandwiched between Micky van de Ven and Virgil van Dijk before knocking it out of play.

5': NETHERLANDS 0-0 GERMANY

Crysencio Summerville starts a dangerous 3v2 counter after taking a pass from Brian Brobbey into the left side of the German half. He knocks the ball a bit too far forward before crashing into the right leg of Felix Nmecha - sending the latter to the ground. Spanish official Alejandro Hernández Hernández awards a free kick to the visitors, who will go the other way.

7': NETHERLANDS 0-0 GERMANY

Tijjani Reijnders plays the ball to his right on another Dutch counter, finding Summerville this time. The 24-year-old Rotterdam-born winger attempts a far-post cross, hoping to reach Brobbey for what would have been a tap-in - but Marc-André ter Stegen reads the play well, getting to the space at the edge of the goal area first and covering the ball with both hands before launching it upfield.

10': NETHERLANDS 0-0 GERMANY

Brobbey gets on the end of a pass from Reijnders, taking the ball into the centre of the box. Jonathan Tah makes slight contact behind him, going down in the process; Brobbey loses balance and goes down on his own power shortly after, but despite Dutch calls for a penalty, the final decision is a corner. Reijnders' ensuing shot on the corner deflects off the arm of Tah, but it appears to be close to his body and thus, another corner will follow.

12': NETHERLANDS 1-0 GERMANY

Tijjani Reijnders delivers a near-post cross on the third consecutive Dutch corner. Virgil van Dijk reaches and meets it with a towering header, past Ter Stegen and over the line to give the hosts the lead.

13': NETHERLANDS 1-0 GERMANY

But hang on - this one is going to a VAR review. Alejandro Hernández Hernández to the booth, consulting with two other Spanish officials - Carlos del Cerro Grande and Javier Iglesias Villanueva.

15': NETHERLANDS 0-0 GERMANY

The goal is coming back! Brobbey interferes with Ter Stegen as van Dijk reaches for the header, causing the timing of Ter Stegen's jump to be a split-second too late. It remains level at 0-0 in the Dutch capital, to a wave of whistles from the orange crowd.

17': NETHERLANDS 0-0 GERMANY

An update from the other match in Germany's group: Serbia are leading Greece by a goal to none in Belgrade. Andrija Živković, who plays his club football in Greece with PAOK, opens the scoring in the fourth minute of play. At the moment, the group standings: Serbia (3), Netherlands (1), Germany (1), Greece (0).

19': NETHERLANDS 0-0 GERMANY

Cody Gakpo tries to whip a cross into the centre of the box from the left side of the German third. Brown gets into the space and meets the ball with a perfectly-timed header to send it to the left for a corner.

21': NETHERLANDS 0-0 GERMANY

The ensuing corner is cleared by Jonathan Tah, eventually sent into the midfield. Quinten Timber steps on the right boot of Kai Havertz during a contest in the seconds that follow; the Arsenal FC forward remains on the ground for a moment before shaking it off. As for the Crystal Palace FC midfielder, he is the first name into the book with a yellow card.

23': NETHERLANDS 0-0 GERMANY

The Dutch have started off as the stronger side in this match, but some rough defending in their debut under Spain-born manager Xavi Hernández might be one of their few weaknesses up to this point. Van Hecke is the second player to go into the book in the last three minutes, for a sliding challenge that forcefully brings down Kevin Schade on the left side of the ground.

27': NETHERLANDS 0-0 GERMANY

Havertz goes down again - as his leg accidentally comes down on the knee of Summerville in a midfield challenge. He goes off the field, down the stairs and into the tunnel - with Younes Ebnoutalib taking off his substitute uniform and expected to come in. Germany will play 10v11 until the next stoppage of play.

29': NETHERLANDS 0-0 GERMANY

The change is confirmed, as Younes Ebnoutalib enters at CF in place of Kai Havertz. The 23-year-old from Eintracht Frankfurt has had a fantastic start to his Bundesliga campaign in 2026/27, with four goals and an assist through the first four matches.

30': NETHERLANDS 0-0 GERMANY

Ebnoutalib with a great chance after just one minute of action, weaving his way into the left side of the box, taking a through ball from Nmecha, and then powering a shot off the hands of Bart Verbruggen.

33': NETHERLANDS 0-1 GERMANY

(TOOOOOOOOOOOOOR - F. Nmecha)

Brobbey appears to overstretch his right hamstring and goes down clutching it, following a midfield contest with Jonathan Tah. The Dutch point to the apparent injury, but the official allows play to continue - Joshua Kimmich crosses the ball to the right side of the box, knocked down by Philipp Treu. Treu then sends the ball towards the goalmouth, with Nmecha eventually pouncing on it to give Germany the lead at the half-hour mark.

Denzel Dumfries goes after Nmecha and the celebrating Germans on the right side of the Dutch third. Brobbey will be substituted off, with Mexx Meerdink entering in his place.

36': NETHERLANDS 0-1 GERMANY

Mexx Meerdink is another standout player to watch in this match - the 23-year-old promoted to a starting spot at Eredivisie club AZ Alkmaar after the transfer of Irishman Troy Parrott to Real Betis in LaLiga, and has taken full advantage of the opportunity. Three goals and two assists through seven appearances so far.

39': NETHERLANDS 0-1 GERMANY

Reijnders plays the ball to his right on a Dutch counterattack, finding Dumfries - who immediately delivers a powerful cross into the centre of the box with his left boot. Summerville meets it with a header, but cannot direct it towards the top-right corner - allowing Ter Stegen to glove it down with both hands.

41': NETHERLANDS 0-1 GERMANY

Ter Stegen attempts to play the ball forward to Nmecha as the Germans regroup in their own third, but taps the ball a bit too weakly and allows Gakpo to run into the space. It leaves the Liverpool FC winger - who Jürgen Klopp coached in the 2023/24 season - with a perfect lane to send a direct shot at goal, but Ter Stegen makes up for his mistake by pawing it away with both hands.

45+1': NETHERLANDS 0-1 GERMANY

3 minutes will be added to the opening term in Amsterdam.

45+2': NETHERLANDS 0-1 GERMANY

Reijnders whips a Dutch free kick into the centre of the box from the middle of the ground; the ball lands in front of Tah and Schlotterbeck before the former is able to clear it away. It goes back into the midfield, creating an onside run for Adeyemi before Summerville pushes him off his mark; the contact was not enough to warrant a foul from Alejandro Hernández Hernández, though.

HT: NETHERLANDS 0-1 GERMANY

Reijnders swings the last corner of the first half into the centre of the box, but the header from van Hecke sails over Ter Stegen and out of play. Both sides are called to the dressing rooms just seconds afterward, as Germany lead the Netherlands by a goal to none at the break in Amsterdam.

Some first half statistics of note: the Netherlands lead Germany 8-5, 3-2 on target. Touches in the opposing penalty area are 16-15 in favour of the Dutch, and the Oranje hold a slightly better passing accuracy - 87 % on 160 completions to 85 % on 182. Possession is the only major statistic that goes to Germany, but only slightly - 53 % at the moment.

Whether Germany is able to dominate in these categories in the second half is one thing to keep an eye on, but the Dutch look to be the stronger side despite the current score.

In League A, Group 2, which is Germany's group, Serbia lead Greece 1-0 thanks to Andrija Živković in the fourth minute. The live table sees Germany on top (3 pts), followed by Serbia (3 pts), the Netherlands (0 pts), and Greece (0 pts).

In League A, Group 4, Norway leads Denmark 2-1 and Portugal leads Wales 1-0.

In League B, Group 3, Austria leads Israel 1-0 and the Kosovo - Republic of Ireland match remains 0-0.

In League D, Group 2, Liechtenstein and Lithuania remain at 0-0 at halftime. In League D, Group 1, Malta defeated Andorra 2-1 in the only early evening match.

Felix Nmecha is the standout player for Germany in this match so far, with 20 / 22 passes completed, 2 / 2 ground duels completed, 5 defensive contributions, and 30 touches of the ball. He currently holds a 7,9 rating; this is a full 0,8 ahead of Karim Adeyemi and Nathaniel Brown (7,1). Kevin Schade (6,3) has the lowest match rating of the German starters at the moment.

The two sides make their way back onto the ground for the start of the second 45, which the hosts will be responsible for kicking off.

Tijjani Reijnders and Jan Paul van Hecke are both tied for the best player on the ground for the Dutch so far (6,5). Van Hecke has been better on the defensive side, winning 3 / 3 aerial duels and connecting 28 / 30 passes; Reijnders has been better on the attacking side, delivering seven crosses into the German penalty area, but has also managed 4 / 4 ground duel wins. The injured Brian Brobbey has the lowest rating (5,5); after him is Quinten Timber (6,1).

46': NETHERLANDS 0-1 GERMANY

The second half is officially underway. The Netherlands, in their famous orange uniforms, will go right to left when on the attack in this term; Germany, in black, left to right.

49': NETHERLANDS 0-1 GERMANY

Germany are 2-2-0 in their last four meetings against the Dutch; the last time that the Dutch defeated Germany was in qualification for UEFA EURO 2020, a 4-2 result in Hamburg on 6. September 2019. The Dutch have not defeated Germany on their own home turf since a 3-0 result on 13. October 2018, in the 2018/19 UEFA Nations League; that was also their first time having done that in 18 years, with the prior victory having been on 23. February 2000 (2-1).

52': NETHERLANDS 0-1 GERMANY

Reijnders delivers a near-post corner, hoping to force a Dutch equaliser; Dumfries gets in front of van de Ven and Summerville and powers a header towards the top-left corner, but he does not miss by too much and the DFB-Team will be able to regroup with a punt upfield from Ter Stegen.

55': NETHERLANDS 0-1 GERMANY

Looks as though Joey Veerman will be entering, presumably for Quinten Timber at CM as the latter is currently on a yellow card.

57': NETHERLANDS 0-1 GERMANY

And the change is complete, with Veerman entering for Timber as projected. Looks as though both sides will move to a 4-2-3-1 from here on out, with Timber and Gravenberch to play CDM for the Dutch. Kimmich and Nmecha will counter at CDM for Klopp's Germany.

59': NETHERLANDS 0-1 GERMANY

Meerdink sets up Dumfries with a beautiful backheel pass into the right side of the box. The 30-year-old Rotterdam-born centre-back, who just joined Real Madrid CF from Inter Milan at the club level, attempts to confuse Ter Stegen by aiming between the legs - but the latter knows exactly what he is doing and closes his legs in time to make a forceful block.

61': NETHERLANDS 0-1 GERMANY

Meerdink is denied by Ter Stegen at the goalmouth, following a corner delivery from the right boot of Reijnders. A scramble ensues, Kimmich goes down as the Dutch continue to hack at the ball - and the whistle is blown by Alejandro Hernández Hernández. Meerdink then gathers it from the scramble and roofs a shot above Ter Stegen, but the goal will not count - and that creates a commotion in front of the official, which is quickly broken up.

63': NETHERLANDS 0-1 GERMANY

Kevin Schade's night appears to be done, as he is walking on the touchline. Chris Führich will enter the field in his place at LAM.

65': NETHERLANDS 0-1 GERMANY

Meerdink comes incredibly close to the equaliser, but the ball deflects off the wrong side of his sliding boot off a pass to the goalmouth from Dumfries and ultimately goes wide! A near-scare for Germany, but they continue to hold a one-goal advantage despite what has been a quite defensive second half.

67': NETHERLANDS 0-1 GERMANY

Anton Stach will take the place of Felix Nmecha at CDM, in the third change for Jürgen Klopp's German side. This is just the fourth international appearance for the Leeds United FC midfielder, who had a four-year gap between appearances between 2022 and this past March.

69': NETHERLANDS 0-1 GERMANY

Amiri picks up Germany's first yellow card of the evening, for a harsh sliding tackle that sent Dumfries flying. Dumfries pushes the 1. FSV Mainz 05 attacking midfielder to the ground as the latter was getting up in the seconds that followed, and Alejandro Hernández Hernández has to step in to prevent this situation from getting extremely heated.

71': NETHERLANDS 0-1 GERMANY

Führich starts a counter on the left side of the Dutch half, delivering a ground pass into the middle to Treu. He plays the ball to Adeyemi on the left side of the box, who overthinks the play and is dispossessed by van Dijk. Eventually, the ball comes back to Treu, who powers it well wide of the top-left corner.

73': NETHERLANDS 0-1 GERMANY

Christos Tzolis has just tied the other match for Greece in Belgrade. 1-1 in that match, with Greece outshooting Serbia 17-4, 7-2 on target despite holding only 51 % possession. Greece takes on Germany in the next match on Sunday in Augsburg. Current table: Germany (3), Greece (1), Serbia (1), Netherlands (0).

75': NETHERLANDS 0-1 GERMANY

Meerdink weaves his way into the left side of the box with possession of the ball, evades a slide tackle from Tah, and then blasts a left-footed shot off the right glove of Ter Stegen, off the outside of the left post, and away from danger. The Dutch have outshot Germany 9-4, 4-0 on target in this term - and that was certainly one of their better chances tonight.

77': NETHERLANDS 0-1 GERMANY

Tah attempts to find Ebnoutalib with a long ball into the right side of the box, but hits it a bit too far and Mark Flekken does not have to move too much to grab on. Looks like there will be a double change to finish off the substitutions for Jürgen Klopp's German side - Serge Gnabry will be one of the players coming in.

79': NETHERLANDS 0-1 GERMANY

Nadiem Amiri and Karim Adeyemi will exit for Germany in the last double change for the visitors tonight; Yannik Engelhardt and Serge Gnabry will take their places at CAM and RAM within Klopp's modified 4-2-3-1. Engelhardt has 2 goals through 4 matches with SC Freiburg in this current Bundesliga campaign; Gnabry has played 1 match for FC Bayern in the new season.

81': NETHERLANDS 0-1 GERMANY

The match is delayed due to a pitch invader on the ground, who takes a photo with Reijnders before running around Summerville to evade security. It takes about 10 seconds for security to take him to the touchline, but they eventually manage to do so. At the same time, two men come onto the field to play: Guus Til and Ruben van Bommel take the places of Summerville and Reijnders at CAM and RAM in two more changes for the Dutch.

The Netherlands still have one change remaining in this match.

84': NETHERLANDS 0-1 GERMANY

An unsuccessful clearance from Tah on a Dutch corner ultimately lands in front of van Hecke, who sends a header off the ground from close range but into the hands of Ter Stegen.

86': NETHERLANDS 0-1 GERMANY

Brown appears to be in some pain after an awkward slide to deflect the ball away from Dumfries on the right side of the box; the hosts were awarded a corner, which van Bommel deflected off Schlotterbeck and out for another set piece.

88': NETHERLANDS 0-1 GERMANY

Kimmich tries to get in front of van Bommel as the latter attempts a curling shot from the edge of the box, but he cannot cover the space to make the block in time. Ter Stegen is able to make a crucial block, however, leaping to deny the PSV winger of the bottom-right corner with both hands.

90+1': NETHERLANDS 0-1 GERMANY

Fourth official Alejandro Quintero González signals an additional three minutes to the second half, with the Dutch pushing for a late equaliser to rescue a point.

90+2': NETHERLANDS 1-1 GERMANY

Van Bommel intercepts a Gnabry pass in the direction of Brown, and then delivers a cross into the right side of the box - which Gakpo thunders past Ter Stegen to draw the Dutch level at a time when they needed it most.

90+4': NETHERLANDS 1-1 GERMANY

Greece has just taken the lead in the fifth and last minute of additional time in Serbia, and are now on top of the group through the first matchday. Anastasios Douvikas with the decider, so the current table looks like this: Greece (3), Netherlands (1), Germany (1), Serbia (0).

FT: NETHERLANDS 1-1 GERMANY

Van Bommel's cross into the right side of the box is headed past Ter Stegen but just wide of the bottom-left corner by Veerman. That will be the last action of the match; a decent coaching debut at the helm of the Dutch for Xavi Hernández, but one for Jürgen Klopp's Germany that will leave them looking for ways to improve. Still time for both sides to create decent chemistry and tactics that work, but this one finishes with two split points, 1-1 in Amsterdam.

FT: NETHERLANDS 1-1 GERMANY

Shots in the second half went 14-5 to the Netherlands, 7-0 on target. The Dutch held 60 % possession and managed a pass accuracy of 84 % on 188 completions, compared to 79 % on 119 for Germany. The Oranje managed 28 touches in the German penalty area, with the visitors having only managed 11 in the Dutch box.

FT: NETHERLANDS 1-1 GERMANY

And overall, shots finished 22-10 to the Netherlands, 10-2 on target with 54 % possession and a pass accuracy of 85 % on 345 completions, compared to 82 % on 302 for Germany. Touches in the opposing penalty area finished with the Dutch managing nearly double the German total, 44-26.

The Netherlands will visit Serbia on Sunday, with kickoff set for 18.00 (CET) in Belgrade. As for Germany, they will host group-leading Greece in Augsburg three hours later at 20.45 (CET) in Augsburg. These two sides will not play each other again until the last day of the group, 16. November at 20.45 (CET) at Olympiastadion in Berlin.
