Former Bayer Leverkusen and Benfica coach Roger Schmidt has made it clear that he's not interested in taking on a new job at the moment.

Schmidt has been touted as a possible successor to Nuri Sahin as Borussia Dortmund coach, but the 57-year-old has now ruled himself out of the running.

"News has to be transported every day. When a team has problems, they look at what coaches are available. There's nothing you can do about that," Schmidt told the Spielmacher podcast.

"Of course you're always happy to be appreciated. When someone thinks about entrusting you with a team, it's always a very positive thing.

"But I've made a very clear decision that I'm not going to do anything now," said Schmidt, adding that he will “under no circumstances take charge of a new club” this season.
