In their ongoing search for a new striker, FC Schalke 04 have apparently set their sights on a new target from Burnley FC.

Andréas Hountondji, who spent last season on loan at FC St. Pauli, is said to be their desired player, according to Lorenzo Lepore.

The journalist understands that Schalke are trying to snatch the 24-year-old's imminent transfer to Frosinone at the last minute.

Meanwhile, Football Italia writes that a loan move to the Serie A side is agreed, including an obligation to buy if they remain in the topflight.

A similar transfer arrangement should also be feasible for Schalke, although French outfit AS Saint-Étienne are also keen on Hountondji.

Hountondji scored four goals in 23 competitive matches for St. Pauli last season, and the Benin international has no future at Burnley.
