Frankfurt sell striker Ache to Kaiserslautern

FC Kaiserslautern have bolstered their attack with the addition of Eintracht Frankfurt and Germany U21 striker Ragnar Ache.
Eintracht Frankfurt have sold 24-year-old German striker Ragnar Ache to 2. Bundesliga side 1. FC Kaiserslautern. The former Germany U21 striker and Olympic representative recently returned to the SGE after a loan stint with SpVgg Greuther Fürth. The Frankfurt native scored seven goals and registered four assists with his loan club in the German second division last season.

Frankfurt brought Ache back to his hometown via a €2 million purchase from Sparta Rotterdam in the January 2020 transfer window. The forward ended up making 20 Bundesliga appearances for Eintracht, though he only once played from the start and never remained on the pitch for the full 90 minutes. He scored one Bundesliga goal on the final matchday of the 2020/21 campaign.

Reports suggest that the Pfälzer have paid €1 million to acquire Ache on a permanent basis. If true, this would constitute the first €1 million purchase from the former South-West German Powerhouse since they shelled out €1 million for current Bochum striker Philipp Hofmann back in 2014. FCK managing director Thomas Hengen made clear that the acquisition was aimed at creating a "competitive situation" for striker Terrance Boyd.

"Ragnar Ache embodies a type of striker with whom we definitely wanted to add to our squad," Hengen also noted in a statement accompanying the signing, He has a very physical and dynamic style of play and  raises our quality in central attack. We are happy that he will take his next steps with us and hope that he will integrate quickly."

"The powerful atmosphere that I experienced here last season was incredible," Ache himself added in a nod to his future nights on the Betzenberg Hill, "I'm happy to be able to play for this traditional club and I'm looking forward to the first game with the team."
