With both Manuel Neuer and Jonas Urbig unavailable, Bayern Munich’s third-choice goalkeeper, Sven Ulreich, is in line to make his first appearance in a year and a half when the German champions face Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga on Saturday.

Even if he hasn't played for a long time, 37-year-old Ulreich has the full confidence of FC Bayern coach Vincent Kompany.

“He's a solid character and a solid goalkeeper. He's played a lot of games during his career. We're not increasing the pressure on him, he's not the centre of attention. ‘Ulle’ has always done things right in training and he should show that tomorrow. We have full confidence in our lads. We're aiming to win with him tomorrow," Kompany said at a press conference on Friday.

"Sven is a great character, he's been at FC Bayern for a long time, he's aware of the situation. I always hear from the training group how great the three of them get on. The last time he was in goal was a year and a half ago in Bremen, when we won 5-0. We didn't flinch for a second; he'll do as well as the other two."

The veteran goalkeeper has played 103 games for Bayern in the past.
