Albert Riera was sacked as Eintracht Frankfurt head coach at the end of the 2025/26 season, having lasted only around three months in the job.
Since then, there has been a back-and-forth between the Spanish coach and club representatives through the media, and the dispute has now taken another turn.
Eintracht Frankfurt board member Axel Hellmann recently criticised Riera in an interview with FAZ, saying he was "surprised by how little he was willing to familiarise himself with the Bundesliga, this club and the entire environment around it.”
Riera appeared to respond to those comments in an emotional Instagram post that has since been deleted.
“There were only two people at the club from morning until night fighting to solve the mess, both on and off the pitch, [board member for sport] Markus Krösche and myself. Nobody else,” he wrote.
“I will not mention your name... because you are nobody, unknown, and you did nothing. I still don’t know why you have a salary at the club. You decided to talk about me, and I will do the same.
“Eintracht was a ghost during my time there. There was no president, no directors or anyone else present – they will probably only appear in the good moments. Cowards talk late and behind. By the way, I'm wishing for Eintracht to find proper people who knows about this game and will help the club to have a great football history."
Adi Hütter has since been appointed as Riera’s successor as Eintracht Frankfurt head coach.
