15:30 Pokal Kickoffs: Big shock as Bochum bow out; Hertha Berlin, Paderborn, Darmstadt, and Elversberg advance

The shock of the DfB Pokal first-round has arrived - Jahn Regensburg defeat VfL Bochum on a 1-0 scoreline as Florian Ballas is the hero. Elsewhere, Hertha Berlin, Paderborn, Darmstadt, and Elversberg enjoyed comprehensive victories to book their place in the next stage.

Jahn Regensburg 1 - VfL Bochum 0

It was a tense and close fought first-half of action as a new look Bochum sought to get their season off to a bright start. However, there was a surprise in store as Jahn Regensburg produced the shock of the Pokal thus far. The 2.Bundesliga side ran out 1-0 winners in most dramatic fashion.

The match-defining moment came in the 70th-minute when a corner unintentionally ricocheted off Dominik Kother's leg. His teammate, Florian Ballas, wasted no time in picking his spot before driving the ball in off the aluminium as Patrick Drewes did his best to prevent the goal. Although Bochum threw everything the had forward late on, Regensburg held on for a memorable first-round triumph.

Hansa Rostock 1 - Hertha Berlin 5

A tense opening third of action eventually produced a goal when Derry Scherhant broke the deadlock just before the break. Jonjoe Kenny's cross deflected to Scherhant who had the presence of mind to work the angle on Pfanne and slide the ball into the net.

Hansa Rostock responded immediately after the interval, capitalising on some slack play from Hertha. Gersbeck's undercooked pass fell kindly for Albin Berisha to tap home with the path to goal completely empty. Ibrahim Maza restored Hertha's lead after a tidy one-two with Zeefuik. The floodgates opened when Winkler took on Gürleyen before cushioning a low shot beneath Hagemoser between the Rostock posts.

The game was put beyond doubt when Florian Niederlechner added a fourth. Dardai progressed the ball to Schuler who in turn found Fein to square for the veteran striker. The former Augsburg player made it a brace in the 88th-minute with a piece of fortune as the ball bounced off Karbownik's back and into his path.

Bremer SV 0 - SC Paderborn 4

It was plain sailing for Paderborn who ran out comfortable winners against their Regionalliga Nord opposition. Goals started to flow when Sven Michel cracked an effort off the crossbar as the rebound fell to Adriano Grimaldi.

Castaneda added a second after the break when Miyamoto's clearance fell kindly for the Paderborn player who was ruthless. The goal of the game arrived on 52 minutes as the veteran Michel placed the ball in the top left corner from the box edge. Grimaldi bagged his brace as he climbed above Degirmenci to head home before the hour, as Paderborn progress to the second-round.

Teutonia Ottensen 1 - SV Darmstadt 3

With perhaps the pick of the strikes in the Pokal first-round, Darmstadt took the lead through Kai Klefisch. The 24-year-old took it on from 23 metres range and it was a picture perfect goal as it thumped in off the crossbar. Die Lilien doubled their advantage when Fabian Nürnberger sent Huxsohl the wrong way with a composed finish.

Ottensen managed to hit back early in the second-half to ruffle some feathers. Gutmann tested Niemczycki who failed to parry to safety, as Christian Stark hoovered up the rebound. Darmstadt couod breathe again when substitute Vilhelmsson converted from Lidberg's cross at the byline. Darmstadt never looked back and ensured passage to the next stage of Germany's premier cup competition.

Borussia Hildesheim 0 - SV Elversberg 7

Elversberg wasted no time in hitting the front this afternoon when they took the lead in the 17th-minute. Gerezgiher delivered a perfectly timed cross the to the back post where Luca Schnellbacher's outstretched boot guided the ball home. Robin Fellhauer added a second when Redemann failed to clear the Hildesheim lines sufficiently. An own goal from Yannik Schulze left Elversberg 3-0 up at the interval.

Paul Stock joined in on the 2.Bundesliga side's afternoon of fun with a cheeky nutmeg finish. Fredrick Schmahl added a fifth when Boyamba unselfishly assisted the German. Carlo Sickinger notched a stunning sixth when he zipped a first-time strike inside the lower left upright. A heavenly seventh was achieved when Joseph Boyamba displayed great bravery in beating Hildesheim shot-stopper Tommy Henze to the high ball and nodded home.
