Following reports linking Leon Goretzka with a move to Atlético Madrid, the Bayern Munich midfielder openly admitted in an interview that leaving the club is “an option” and that he could see himself playing abroad.

With just six months remaining on his contract, Bayern board member for sport Max Eberl understands the midfielder's considerations.

“That’s legitimate. His contract expires in the summer,” Eberl told reporters after Bayern’s 2-1 Champions League win over PSV on Wednesday.

“No decisions have been made yet. Naturally, he has to think about the future, because no one knows what will happen next. So for me, it’s all fine.”

The 52-year-old also emphasised that no club has contacted Bayern about Goretzka so far.

Goretzka remained on the bench for the full 90 minutes of Bayern's game against PSV.
